Dear Parents and Carers, We really hope you are all safe and well and enjoying the summer. All of us here at Green Hammerton Junior Football are looking forward to getting back to football training on 12th September 2020. As a grassroots club with membership of the North Riding FA we have been given some clear guidance as to how to proceed in light of the current global pandemic and the coaches are putting measures in place to make sure we do our best to keep everyone associated with the club safe and well. If you like, you can read a summary of the FA guidelines here. Apologies in advance that this is a lengthy message but please do bear with us as we do need to get all players registered with the club before they can start training. So, here we go:
Sessions and fees: We run 3 ‘terms’ of football sessions, in line with the school terms, and unlike many Junior clubs (under normal circumstances) play right through the school summer term. The first term starts 12 September, has a half term break on 31st October and finishes 19th December (14 sessions). Our fees are £50 per term with a discount of £10 for additional siblings.
Also, due to our unexpectedly short Spring 2020 term we would like to offer HALF PRICE fees of £25 this autumn for all players who were signed up with us when the club closed in March. Fees are payable termly online only to Green Hammerton Junior Football (details on your sign up form) As ever if you feel this will cause your family hardship please speak to our Secretary Ian Watson firstname.lastname@example.org about a payment plan or ‘scholarship’ places. We still offer free taster sessions for U7’s and free training places to the children of coaches volunteering for the full season.
Club members registration:
We will need all members old and new to fill out the 2020 club registration form (linked on our website ) and return by email so we have a ‘contactless’ delivery. This gives us your players up to date medical and contact details , your agreement to the FA Players and Parents Code of Conduct and that we can hold your data on file under the current GDPR laws. You’ll see this year it has an additional Covid-19 Consent Form. Please read this carefully as anyone deemed ‘vulnerable’ by the government- players or carers- should only return to football when it is right for them to do so. We have conducted a risk assessment at the club (available to view ) and please contact Child Welfare Officer Kate Bramley email@example.com if you have any further questions about this or any other safety concerns.
Resuming league matches
We are members of the Nidderdale Friendly League and they are hoping competitive matches will resume this autumn. We don’t as yet have any further details on fixtures but remind you we are now fielding five teams at U7, U8, U9, U10 and U11. The head coaches who all have Level One Training Completed (or in progress due to lockdown interruption) are Jim Wardle (U11), Phil Sharp (U10), Adam Sargent (U9), Matt McGill (U8) and Pete Hargreaves has kindly agreed to take the lead the U7’s for the time being. Head coaches will all have a First Aid Kit and PPE at pitch side during training.
Changes to training sessions There will have to be a few changes to the way our Saturday training operates and we hope you can play your part.
Players should arrive changed and ready to play between 9.20 and 9.30AM and must sign in at the registration table before going directly to train with their team age-group. Team pitches will be clearly signed. For NHS track and trace purposes we must ask you for all visitor contact details which we will hold for 21 days.
We please ask that parent spectators ‘maintain discreet groups of up to 6 people’ at the side of your team pitch, rather than congregating as a large group in the centre. Please remember that government social distancing rules do still apply if you are meeting anyone outside of your immediate family or support bubble.
Please do not attend the session if anyone in your household has Coronavirus or you/ your child are feeling unwell and/or displaying any potential symptoms of Coronavirus such as high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. When you sign in at the session you will be agreeing that you are following these guidelines.
To minimise sharing of equipment we require all children to bring their own named water bottle and a small kit bag. And that all training clothing is named and returned to their own bags. Players will require shin pads and football boots and warm/ wet weather clothing as the season progresses. Coaches will set up and take down and sanitise kit for their own teams and all players will use an allocated ball for training. We will also give every player their own named bib to keep in their kit bag for use in matches. GHJFC kit bags will also be made available shortly.
Please depart the pitches as promptly as possible at 10.45AM at the end of training so the coaches can sanitise and return equipment to the lockup.
2020/2021 Football Kit
We are delighted to retain our sponsors Ardent Law and HQT Ltd for another season, so huge thanks to them. And this means that if your child still fits into their kit they’re most welcome to use it for another season! For the rest of us: Kit buy-back We are offering a kit buy-back of £10 for any saleable quality shirt and shorts that are returned, and £15 for shirt/shorts/ black showerproof training top. Please place any clean kit you would like to return in a clear plastic bag with your players name and the size of the kit you are enclosing on the front. New kit orders During the first couple of training sessions we will ask you to give your orders for new or good quality second-hand kit. We’ll just need the size you require and payment of £40 for new shirt/shorts/training top or £25 for the same kit second hand. This is the green Nike match-day kit and in addition all players will need white socks. We are also setting up a linked group on our facebook page for parents who might independently want to sell on used football boots/ pads/ gloves etc. Please be considerate of each other and Covid-safe in your private transactions.
Request for volunteers
And last but not least we would dearly love some more volunteers to assist with coaching, refereeing matches and now to help out with ‘visitor sign-in’ at training and games. We are more than happy to pay the cost of coaches attending their FA Level 1 Training course but any coach can volunteer immediately providing we have a police DBS check in place for them for safety purposes.
Thanks to all of you for making it to the end of this message for starters! Please get signed up now and we’ll see you all for training on the 12th September!
